JUMP 'N JACK
Brief history of the "JUMP 'N JACK" Camaro as I remember it. On the top is three versions of the vehicle as it was shown by the original
owner Jack Kent. On the bottom we begin with the "
STAGE FRIGHT" El Camino Super Gasser owned by Bill Ancona, the "JUMP 'N JACK"
Camaro after Ancona purchased it (shown with the El Camino display) and finally the complete redo of the Camaro with new display and new
name, "
SIMPLY RED". The "new" display was previously used to display an award winning '57 Chevy custom out of the Dallas area.

"GODFATHER"
Mike Atzenhoffer was like the TV show says, "Car Crazy". He was literally into "show and go" and it was
with his "show" vehicle that he made his mark. His "
GODFATHER" show roadster was one of the "killer"
cars on the ISCA indoor car show circuit especially the last couple of years that it was shown. It was easily
the top competition vehicle in the country. I first saw the roadster with an injected Chevy small block. Not
long after it was sporting a blown big block Chevy. When Ford became a major sponsor of the ISCA show
circuit and rewarded high finishing Ford powered vehicles, Mike switched to a blown Ford Shotgun motor and finished the car's "career"
with a blown and turbocharged Ford four-cylinder. I also remember Mike severing his ties with the ISCA with a scathing letter that the
ISCA posted in their "Show Stopper" magazine concerning their judging criteria or lack of. Five or six years ago I was attending the
Detroit Autorama and was pleasantly surprised to see the original "
GODFATHER" now running as a true competition car (above, lower
right). The chrome was little dull and the paint had a few chips and cracks in it but hey, it was still the original "
GODFATHER". I must
have been smiling as I was looking at the car because the current owner came up to me and asked me..."You know this car don't you?" He
gave me his business card so I could send him some of my pictures. You might also notice that the car's final display was purchased and
used by Jack Kent to show his award winning Camaro drag car "
JUMP 'N JACK" (above).
For years I couldn't go to a Texas ISCA indoor custom car show without seeing at least one of the Marshall Brothers great looking competition
based show cars. The Marshall Brothers (Wayne and Ricky) loved drag racing and loved showing them at indoor car shows with full displays.
Successful Texas car dealer Ron Craft owned several Boyd built automobiles including these two rods that toured the indoor circuit.
This wild Pro Street '55 Chevy was owned and shown by the late
legendary Major League baseball player Ken Caminiti.
The last time I saw "WILDFIRE", it was on display at a car
museum on I-35 between San Antonio and Fort Worth.

"lordy, lordy looks who's forty"
I took the black and white picture above at my first ever outdoor car show. It was put on by the Early Irons Car Club at the Northline
Mall in Houston back in 1972. The color picture on the right of the same vehicle was taken just three years ago at the Spring Fling Car
Show in Rosenberg just south of Houston. Other than some chrome work, interior and a Jag rear end, not much has changed in almost
forty years. I wish I could say the same about myself! By the way; that's my
brand new '72 Datsun pickup  (yes Datsun, not Nissan yet!)
parked in the background in the black and white picture.
Since I'm posting my "old" pictures, why not start with the oldest I've got. They were all taken at the Houston Autorama in 1972 and they
were taken before I had a 35mm camera. I believe it was called an Instamatic Camera (?).
These are the first pictures that I took using a 35mm camera. Again they were all taken at the Houston Autorama. John Greer's "Brinks
Express
" (top right) won the Ridler Award at the Detroit Autorama in 1971 so these pictures were taken not long after, probably 1973.
Now that my "older" pictures are out of the way and since my old "racing" images are all Texas based, below are Texas based vehicles
that completed in the ISCA International Points Championship in their perspective years.
I've always had a "Looking Back" page where I posted my old drag racing
pictures. Since my website is called "rodding and racing" and I've got
pictures of both going back almost forty years, why not a separate page
for old rodding pictures? I figured since I was revamping my site anyway,
now would be a good time. Below are old indoor pictures categorized by year
and/or topic. Info as I remember it is also provided on occasion. Enjoy.

I was recently checking out the auctions on Ebay and came across a very familiar '83 Chevy C-10 Fleetside. I easily recognized it as Mark Traina's "BACK
FOR BUSINESS
" show truck that showed out of the Houston area. If I remember correctly, it originally showed as "STRICTLY BUSINESS" until Mark took
a couple of years off to completely redo the truck into one of the country's top show trucks. On the right is one of my photos of the truck and the photos on
the left, including the detail images, are from the Ebay auction. The current owner is from Las Vegas.
